It’s no secret that Mumbai has its fair share of crows. Some may even argue it has more than its fair share of crows. It’s no mystery, crows are scavengers and Mumbai has loads of garbage just waiting to be scavanged.
With crows, comes noise. Lot’s of noise. But there is a moment; one glorious moment, before the crows. It’s the time early in the morning when the rickshaws are still sleeping, and the world is quiet. It is those moments just before dawn, before the churchbells ring, before waking the birds that are my favorite.
I sit and sip my tea and wonder, in those minutes, if this is what Mumai was before the crows.
